Overview

ACIAR has occasional projects that have global applications, rather than focusing on a specific region or country. Typically at any given time no more than four or five projects will fall into this category. Such projects are developed in collaboration and led by an International Agricultural Research Centre, and address issues that have a broad benefit beyond a country or small group of countries. Current examples include disseminating information on past research findings or collection of unique germplasm as a resource for on-going research.

Most past projects have focused on cropping research, which has broad application. These projects related to issues to improve crop yields, including the CGIAR Systemwide Information Network for Genetic Resources (SINGER).
