He has had a life long association with the irrigation industry, particularly irrigated horticulture and viticulture. Mr Andrew became an active participant in the South Australian Agricultural Bureau movement. He was a member, and then Chairman, of the Advisory Board of Agriculture, the peak body of the Bureau movement and an advisory body to the South Australian Minister of Agriculture. In 1983, he was elected to the Australian Parliament as the Member for Wakefield in the House of Representatives.
