David Shearer

David Shearer is Research Program Manager for the Agribusiness Program. The program aims to improve incomes and productivity for farmers and agribusiness. It is linked to the AusAID-funded Support for Market-Driven Adaptive Research (SMAR) initiative in Indonesia.

Mr Shearer joins ACIAR from the Victorian Department of Primary Industries where he was involved in enhancing the export performance of Victoria’s agriculture and food industries in Asia. The role focussed on linking capability with demand and utilising the strength of agricultural researchers in overcoming barriers to trade. He has also been involved with building the agribusiness capacity of regional Victoria and the development of internationally recognised regional branding strategies. He has worked in research program management in the Australian wine industry and as an extension horticulturalist for New South Wales Agriculture. David has a Bachelors Degree in Agriculture, a Masters in Horticulture, and is completing a Masters Degree in Agri-Food Management.
