Priorities

ACIAR has a program of annual consultations with major partner organisations to discuss program strategies and new projects. Regional consultations to establish priorities for cooperation in south-central coastal Vietnam were held in March 2008 (the full record of consultation is at ), and will be held for north-west highland regions in August 2008. The majority of ACIAR-supported informal and postgraduate research degree training will continue to be delivered within the context of active projects. However, ACIAR will also support short-course training in selected areas.

Indicative priorities are grouped under the following program themes.

Subprogram 1: Securing market competitiveness of Vietnamese agricultural, fisheries and forestry products through improved agribusiness and biosecurity systems [15]

Subprogram 2: Development of high-value mariculture industries [16]

Subprogram 3: Towards higher value plantation forestry products [17]

Subprogram 4: Optimising resource management for profitable and sustainable agricultural production in south-central coastal Vietnam [18]

Subprogram 5: Developing market opportunities for communities in northern and north-western highlands [19]
