Summary

This publication contains the 125 papers presented at the 19th ASEAN/1st APEC Seminar on Postharvest Technology held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam from 9 to 12 November 1999. The purpose of postharvest handling is timely delivery of a product that closely matches buyer specifications and meets regulatory requirements. Satisfying customers underpins quality assurance and other quality systems that aim to provide product of the desired standard. The theme of the seminar, Quality Assurance in Agricultural Produce, acknowledged that this is a time in which trade in agricultural produce is playing a vital role in stimulating the economies of the region.
