Genetics of and Breeding for Rust Resistance in Wheat in India and Pakistan

Summary

The main objects of ACIAR projects CS1/1983/037 and CS1/1988/014 were to investigate and enhance the sources of rust resistance in wheat in India and Pakistan, and to provide training for Indian and Pakistan rust scientists at the National Wheat Rust Control Program at the University of Sydney. That training led to increased research capacity in wheat rust resistance in both countries. While it is difficult to value the outcomes of such projects, this study has estimated the value of the training received in Australia by Indian and Pakistani scientists.
