Officers in the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) have limited experience in detailed trade analysis and currently have no access to the required data sets. As well, Indonesian firms have no source of detailed trade analysis research and even if this information was available they lack the knowledge and skills to use it to best advantage. This project will train MOA staff in detailed trade analysis of global markets, then help position the MOA to supply this market information to Indonesian firms. Part of the process will involve an analysis of world markets and Indonesia's market position in relation to two selected commodities. Project members will then work directly with individual Indonesian agri-business companies, assisting them to analyse export markets and develop new export strategies.
