Project Background and Objectives

The aim of this project is to assess the suitability of, and eventual need for, participatory land use planning processes for the management of forest and agricultural resources in PNG. The assessment will take place within the context of the countrys specific social, political and institutional structures and national resource endowments. The project will review the literature on participatory research and land use planning and assess the application of participatory processes and resource planning in the South Pacific region and especially in PNG. In addition, the project will assess potential study areas and conduct a workshop in PNG to evaluate the outputs of the research.
