Project Background and Objectives

In response to international strategic goals relating to sustainable forestry, to strongly expressed user need for the improved dissemination of knowledge on forest tree species relevant to the Asia-Pacific forestry sector, and evidence that the Electronic Forestry Compendium concept will help meet this need: CABI and CSIRO FFP, in association with CIFOR and other collaborating institutions (national forest services in China, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, PNG, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka and Vietnam), will produce the Electronic Compendium for Forestry in the Asia-Pacific Region(EFC-Asia Pacific) on CD-ROM, and will set up mechanisms to disseminate this widely in the region and elsewhere, and to enable its sustainability updating.
