Project Budget: $85,000Project Duration: 01/04/1997 - 31/03/1998Project Extension: 01/04/1998 - 30/06/1999ACIAR Research Program Manager Dr Kep Coughlan Project Background and Objectives Soil erosion is severe and widespread in Southeast Asia. In 1988, the International Board for Soil Research and Management (IBSRAM) organised an international network on the management of sloping lands for sustainable agriculture in Asia (ASIALAND Management of Sloping Lands). The ASIALAND network involves China, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam and evaluates conservation technologies for sustainable agriculture on sloping lands. This project aims to use models developed in ACIAR projects 8551 and 9201 to evaluate soil erosion and runoff rate at sites in the ASIALAND network. Scientists will also train staff and run a hands-on workshop. Project Outcomes Outcomes for this project are currently being prepared |
