Fire and sustainable agricultural and forestry development in eastern Indonesia and northern Australia

Summary

Over the past decade or so there has been growing recognition of the impacts of biomass burning in the wet forests of Indonesia. In contrast much less attention has been given to annual, mostly prescribed, burning practices and associated land management issues. A workshop, supported by ACIAR, was held in Darwin to discuss and prioritise these problems.
