Summary

There are already instances of successful introduction of ruminants into Southeast Asia's rubber, oil palm and coconut plantations, in ways that enable more intensive use of these areas. These proceedings highlight the outcomes of two ACIAR projects, where research has greatly increased the understanding of grazing management systems applicable to ruminant production within plantation crops. Major subject areas are new forage species, forages production in shaded environments, animal production, and forages extension.
