Research Manager – Portfolio Planning and Impact Evaluation

The ‘Research Manager – Portfolio Planning and Impact Evaluation’ position will (i) develop tools and approaches for investment appraisal and impact assessment in agricultural research for development and (ii) lead their application through ACIAR’s impact assessment activities and the new enterprise scale Results Framework, Performance Framework and Fore-sighting Forum.

The position is responsible to the Chief Scientist, but will work closely with the ACIAR Executive and Research Program Managers through activities to support aggregate and program-level decision making, input to project development, and ex ante and ex post evaluation of projects.

ACIAR’s projects involve research institutions in Australia, developing countries and International Agricultural Research Centres.  The position also plays a wider corporate role by contributing to activities in the research program including peer review of ACIAR projects, contribution to submissions and reviews, and contribution to internal committees.

Classification: EL2RPM2-3 non-ongoing 5-year task

Salary: $140,732 - $176,338, plus 15.4% super  (expected 2% salary increase in December 2018)
