About ACIAR
ACIAR is an independent agency within the Australian Government's Foreign Affairs and Trade portfolio. Our mission is to catalyse more productive, sustainable and resilient food and farming systems for the benefit of developing countries and Australia. We do this through brokering, funding and managing research partnerships between Australian scientists and developing countries.
Operating under the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research Act 1982, we are a specialist element of Australia’s overseas development assistance program, fostering international agricultural research and development partnerships for more sustainable agricultural, forestry and fisheries systems, improved livelihoods for smallholders and more resilient food systems in partner countries.
The opportunity and process
The ACIAR temporary employment register is for candidates who would like to register a general expression of interest in working with ACIAR. We will use the register to access appropriately skilled and experienced individuals for short-term, non-ongoing employment opportunities when staff are required at short notice. Please note there is no guarantee that any work will be available, nor should there be an expectation of gaining ongoing employment through this register.

Who we are looking for
We are looking for flexible, adaptable, professional staff to contribute to ACIAR work across a broad agenda supporting Australia’s international research aid. We are interested in individuals with expertise across all areas of the agency’s work, both program and corporate management.
By applying, you can express interest in roles from APS Level 1 to Executive Level 2. Positions may be full-time or part-time and for varying periods up to 18 months, depending on business needs and requirements.
Eligibility requirements
The occupant must be an Australian citizen and be able to satisfy ACIAR security requirements, which may include an AFP Police check and/or a requirement to undergo a security assessment by the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency.
Closing date
The Temporary Employment Register is valid until 31 December 2024.
