The problem of maintaining soil fertility in eastern Kenya: a review of relevant research

Rapid population growth in Africa together with low inputs of soil nutrients and intensive cropping have resulted in a gradual decline in per capita production of food grains. This monograph is a review of studies mainly in eastern Kenya but also examines reports from other areas of eastern and southern Africa where similar problems of maintaining soil fertility are experienced.
