This SRA supports follow-on investigations to the Review of regional beef markets and trade in China and Southeast Asia (AGB-2012-048). It will enable expanded in-country analysis and stakeholder engagements.
The rationale for this follow-on study remains. Cattle and beef markets and trade have developed at a rapid pace in China and Southeast Asia in recent years, with important implications for rural development, food security, human nutrition, bio-security, trade and the Australian industry. Most importantly it is unclear what constraints, opportunities and risks these changes will have on thousands of smallholder famers, and workers in beef supply chains.
