Defining the biotic constraints to fresh taro from Samoa gaining market access to Australia

This Small Research Activity (SRA) aims to help Samoa export fresh taro to Australia.
The Samoan Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries officially requested Australia's help in 2015 to open this pathway. This SRA addresses that request.
Samoa will need to develop and demonstrate measures to manage taro leaf blight (Phytophthora colocasiae) that are acceptable to Biosecurity Australia before exports can begin.
This SRA will determine whether taro leaf blight can survive on or within the corm (plant storage organ) during simulated export shipments, and help the Samoan agencies to apply for market access to Australia.
