Overview

This small research activity aims to support the control strategies for foot-and-mouth disease in Indonesia. The project focuses on detecting, isolating, and characterising the foot-and-mouth disease virus circulating in the country, evaluating the implementation of foot-and-mouth disease control strategies, and engaging stakeholders to increase awareness and efficiency of foot-and-mouth disease interventions.

Outcomes

  • Providing information on the epidemiology and characteristics of the foot-and-mouth disease virus in Indonesia.
  • Providing insights into the coverage and protectivity of vaccination in various regions.
  • Understanding of potential co-infections with other diseases.
  • Developing strategies to minimise the impacts of foot-and-mouth disease through supportive treatments and policy analysis.

  • Preventing economic impacts on animals and farmers by reducing the spread of foot-and-mouth disease.
