Assessing mariculture market constraints and potential in South-East Sulawesi: stakeholder engagement and situation analysis - Final report

This project aimed to develop an effective stakeholder group that is able to support the development of a more agribusiness, market driven approach to industry development of the smallholder mariculture sector in SE Sulawesi.

Development of fish passage technology to increase fisheries production on floodplains in the lower Mekong basin - Final report

This project aimed to determine whether a fishway could be applied as a technology to rehabilitate degraded floodplain fisheries in the Lower Mekong Basin. Globally, fishways have been used to provide connectivity at riverine infrastructure which creates fish migration barriers. Fishways are a channel around or through a migration barrier which allow fish to move volitionally. Many designs are available to facilitate fish passage, but applying designs that have been developed for other species can lead to sub-optimal solutions that can limit recovery outcomes.

Change and adaptation in smallholder fisheries livelihoods in Lao PDR - Final report

This project aims to design a three year research project to explore the options and costs involved in mitigating and adapting to resource impacts of large scale resource development, specifically through a study of lost fish production from infrastructure-induced hydrological change within different agro-/ aqua-ecological zones.

Assessing economic and welfare values of fish in the Lower Mekong Basin - Final report

Focussed on the valuation of fish in rural livelihoods, with Cambodia as a case study of the Mekong Basin, this project developed a new methodology combining quantitative economic surveys and qualitative open discussions. The approach covers income, nutrition, labour, health, and resilience, resulting in a detailed, multifactor assessment of the various roles of fish in rural livelihoods.
