ACIAR at COP26
ACIAR is proud to be participating in the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26). COP is the event that brings together all states that are Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). At the Conference, Parties review the implementation of the Convention and make decisions about how to accelerate it.
The participation of ACIAR at COP26 comes at an important time. ACIAR recently established the Climate Change Research Program, which progresses the science and practice of transforming food systems and livelihoods that are under the most pressure to adapt or reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
By participating in COP26, ACIAR is seeking to deepen climate partnerships as well as create new ones. We aim to build on existing initiatives and connect with organisations which are most aligned with the Climate Change Research Program.
ACIAR is engaging most closely with organisations that are focused on transformative adaptation in the agricultural sector. This effort is spearheaded by running a hybrid event, Agricultural Transformation in Practice: A Gamified Experience, whereby participants are engaged in a dynamic and interactive experience that provides a forum to collaborate, network and dialogue with contemporaries interested in agricultural transformation.
