Overview

The northern provinces of China where the land is suitable only for grazing livestock supports approximately 100 million sheep based on Merino types originally from Russia and Australia. Increasing productivity from sheep in the mountainous and grassland areas of China has been nominated as a national priority by the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Science. These proceedings study the limitations placed on sheep production by helminth infections and poor nutrition.
