G’day, Mate: ACIAR Vietnam Alumni Stories

Date released
08 September 2020

Overview

ACIAR builds the capacity of individuals and institutions in developing countries to carry out agricultural research through informal networking and learning at a project level and formal scholarships. ACIAR delivers three fellowship programs, and 89 Vietnamese researchers and scientists have benefited from these programs to build the skills, knowledge and join the networks of international agricultural researchers and scientists.

Particularly, the John Allwright Fellowship (JAF) has supported 67 Vietnamese researchers connected with ACIAR projects to obtain postgraduate degrees at Australian universities. The John Dillon Fellowship (JDF) has provided leadership and management training for 22 mid-management researchers. The Meryl Williams Fellowship, newly launched in 2019, provides leadership and development training for female scientists.

ACIAR Vietnam has introduced the storybook ‘G’Day, Mate: ACIAR Vietnam alumni stories’ to bring together and celebrate the diverse ACIAR alumni community, and increase the visibility of ACIAR change-makers, showcase their achievements in agricultural research, and preserve their lessons learned while studying in Australia.
