Overview

China’s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) in 2001, after 15 years of difficult negotiations, was a momentous event for China and for the world economy. However, China’s accession to the WTO did not have unanimous approval within the country. This report looks at the effect of China’s WTO accession commitments on its agricultural sector.
