Overview
This is a companion volume to Technical Report No 13 (a study of rainfed rice production in Antique Province, Philippines). Both stem from two ACIAR projects(one examined the environmental constraints to production of rainfed rice-based agriculture in Sri Lanka and the Philippines, the other focused on the socioeconomic factors that cause the gap between potential yield and actual farm performance. This report examines why rice yields of farmers are less than half those of experiment stations, and how water availability influences the yield of rainfed rice. It also contains details of the socioeconomic survey methodology and the socioeconomic analysis.
