40 years of ACIAR
Since 1982, ACIAR has implemented more than 1,500 agricultural research-for-development projects, with more than 400 project partners, in almost 40 different countries. In doing so, ACIAR supports Australia’s commitment to contributing to poverty reduction and livelihood improvement in the Indo-Pacific region.
To mark 40 years of operation, a small selection of partnerships, projects and people have been profiled to convey the impact of ACIAR across regions, countries and different fields of research.
While the world has changed significantly since 1982, the ACIAR business model of science partnerships has adapted, evolved and continued to contribute to sustainable development in the Indo-Pacific region. In doing so, Australia’s support of agricultural research for development has contributed to sustainable regional economic growth and enhanced regional stability.
It is very clear that the purpose of ACIAR is as relevant now as it was when ACIAR was established more than 40 years ago.
