Overview
The Annual Operational Plan sets out the context and objectives of the ACIAR work program throughout the Indo-Pacific region for the 2024–25 year. It describes how we build the partnerships, knowledge and capacity required to achieve more productive and sustainable agricultural systems in the region.
Our work is framed by the major influences of our operating environment, which have been in play for some time. These include rapid social, economic and political change within partner countries and an increasingly variable and changing climate.
Our work supports Australia's International Development Policy. Our priorities are determined through close consultation with our partner countries, to ensure that Australia makes meaningful and impactful investment in research for development.
The ACIAR 10-Year Strategy 2018–2027 guides the planning of our research program and brokering of science partnerships, so that our investments best serve smallholder farmers, fishers and foresters and contribute to national and global targets for sustainable and resilient food production systems.
ACIAR-funded research, while primarily helping smallholder farmers and their communities, also benefits Australian agriculture through the development of new technologies, access to improved crop varieties, protection from pests and diseases, and increased skills and knowledge of Australian researchers.
