The Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) is seeking experienced finance professionals to join our Corporate Services team at the Executive Level 1 (EL1).
We are looking for people with strong financial management skills who can provide high-quality advice, support effective financial operations and reporting, and work collaboratively with stakeholders across the organisation.
Opportunities are available across our Finance function, with responsibilities potentially including financial accounting, management accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, cash management, taxation, asset management and providing strategic financial advice to senior leaders.
Depending on the position, responsibilities may include:
- preparing and managing internal and external financial reporting requirements
- supporting end-of-month and end-of-year financial processes
- preparing budgets, forecasts and financial analysis
- providing accurate and timely financial advice to senior management and business areas
- maintaining the integrity and accuracy of financial information and systems
- supporting Commonwealth budgeting and reporting requirements
- managing financial controls, reconciliations and compliance requirements
- overseeing payroll processing, including taxation and superannuation requirements
- identifying opportunities to improve financial processes and practices
- building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- providing leadership, guidance and support to Finance team members.
We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:
- strong financial management, accounting and/or budgeting experience
- sound judgement and the ability to provide clear and practical financial advice
- strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work within deadlines
- strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- an understanding of financial governance, compliance and risk
- the ability to work collaboratively and contribute positively to a small team environment
- leadership capability appropriate to the EL1 level.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in accounting, finance or a related discipline and professional membership or accreditation, such as CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants Australia and, may be highly regarded.
Experience working within the Australian Government financial management environment would also be highly regarded.
Salary: $126,803 – $133,271 plus 15.4% superannuation
Employment Term: Ongoing/Non-ongoing for a period of up to 12 months with the possibility of becoming ongoing
Employment Opportunities: ACIAR is seeking to fill ongoing EL1 Finance positions through this recruitment process. A merit pool may be established and used to fill similar EL1 vacancies that may arise within ACIAR over the next 18 months. These opportunities may be ongoing or non-ongoing full time or part time depending on organisational requirements.
