The General Manager, Research (GMR) is part of ACIAR’s Executive team, alongside the General Manager Partnerships and the General Manager Corporate. Led by the CEO, the Executive works together to deliver ACIAR’s mandate of brokering, funding and managing partnerships and investments that support more productive, sustainable and resilient food and farming systems for the benefit of developing countries and Australia.
The GMR will lead ACIAR’s research portfolio and a team of Research Program Managers to deliver high quality research and capacity building programs aligned with ACIAR’s investment framework and country and regional priorities. The role ensures investments are strategically targeted, evidence-based and deliver measurable development impact in line with Australia’s international development policy and ACIAR’s strategic direction.
Providing strategic advice to the CEO and Executive, the GMR drives innovation, continuous improvement and value for money across the portfolio. The role also positions ACIAR as a trusted and influential partner within Australia’s agricultural innovation system and international research-for-development networks through strong engagement with domestic and international stakeholders.
The GMR models APS Values and behaviours, fosters a high-performing and inclusive research function, and ensures responsible stewardship of public resources while driving collaboration across ACIAR to deliver organisational priorities.
