Agricultural research on integrated rice–shrimp and mangrove–shrimp farming systems in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam

This report assesses the impact of 2 rice–shrimp farming projects and a mangrove forestry project in the Mekong Delta that were supported by ACIAR from the mid-1990s. These projects aimed to investigate and support the ongoing sustainability and profitability of non-monoculture shrimp farming systems in the Mekong Delta.

Agrifood systems transformation through circular migration between Pacific island countries and Australia

Among Australia’s neighbours in Pacific island countries, the COVID-19 pandemic has precipitated a sudden and protracted decrease in external sources of income, such as tourism. The loss of external income has further amplified the social and economic challenges in a region fighting a rapidly changing climate and deteriorating food security. This is a report on opportunities for agricultural knowledge exchange through temporary international labour mobility schemes.

John Allwright Fellowship Program - Tracer Study 2010-2019

The John Allwright Fellowship (JAF) is dedicated to improving agricultural research capacity in Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) partner countries. Between 2010 and 2019, the Fellowship supported 268 agricultural professionals to achieve postgraduate qualifications from Australian tertiary institutions and subsequently lead a range of agricultural research development projects in their home countries.
